During a routine patrol, a local police officer in Alabama spots six destitute black girls. Not wanting to leave them to the mercy of the system, he adopts them. It’s tough going, but 20 years later, they do something that’ll bring tears to your eyes.
John Harris’s uniform clung to him in the sticky Alabama evening as he patrolled the deserted streets. His headlight beams cut through the gloom, and that’s when he spotted a cluster of figures hunched by the roadside—six of them, young girls, black, shrinking back from the glare.
