The dwarf woman, Stacey Herald, faced a difficult fate. Born in Kentucky with a condition known as osteogenesis imperfecta—commonly referred to as “crystal man syndrome”—her bones were extremely fragile, her lungs underdeveloped, and she experienced constant pain throughout her body.
