Tyrisia Woods, an employee of an Atlanta medical building, shared her concerns about the safety of the building’s security measures during an interview with CNN anchor Jim Sciutto. She stated that she did not feel safe in the building due to the frequent occurrence of active shooter situations in the area, and the building’s lack of adequate security measures.
Woods claimed that the security staff in the building were helpful, but were not equipped to handle the level of threat posed by active shooters. She mentioned that there were no metal detectors in the building and that there were no real police officers guarding and protecting the facility. She also expressed her fear and dissatisfaction with the building’s security measures, stating that she did not feel safe working in the area because of the ongoing incidents of active shooters.
During the interview, Woods shared her experience of having encountered four active shooter situations in the nearly five years she had worked in the building. Her claims left Sciutto audibly shocked, and he expressed his concern for people listening to the interview.
Despite the quick response of the police in the aftermath of the recent shooting, Woods still feels unsafe working in the building due to the lack of adequate security measures. She recounted how she had to lock down her facility and ensure the safety of patients after hearing gunshots from above. Her experience serves as a reminder of the importance of having effective security measures in place to protect against such incidents.
