A group of vegan activists swarmed Reichardt Duck Farm in Petaluma, California, in an effort to protest factory farming… an it almost cost one man his life.
The group broke into the facility and chained themselves to the slaughter line with bike locks around their necks. All was well and good until the processing line started moving and one man’s head was wedged up against a pole.
Avoiding decapitation, the man was still struggling to breathe as protestors screamed for the line to stop.
He was eventually freed with minimal injuries, but holy hell if that isn’t enough to make you think twice before chaining your head to factory equipment, is don’t know what is.
Thomas Chiang shared the experience with ABC 7:
“Almost decapitating my head from my neck… I was feeling my life leave my body, as I was struggling to get out of that lock.
We have to escalate all of our actions because this is a global crisis we’re under.”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the ethical treatment of animals, I think we should raise our own if we can, buy local and sustainable, and harvesting wild game as much as possible, but nearly losing your head over some ducks ain’t the move hoss.
More Farmers Dealing With Protestors
When a group of protestors showed up on a farmer’s land (trespassing) to have their voice heard against fracking that was going to take place on his property, he decided to take matters into his own hands to remove the group.
These types of protests don’t always go according to plan, as you’ll see.
In this case, the farmer does his best Dale Jr, circling the group with precision, and spraying them with manure.
Great technique here – gives them nowhere to go, boxes them in, ruins some clothes and shoes and everybody is covered in crap. Just like you draw it up.
