Moses was assigned to my school for his National Service back in 2014. At the time, I was eighteen and in SH$2, while he was twenty-nine. Upon his first entrance into my classroom, he approached me and inquired, “What is your name?” I shared my name, to which he replied, “That’s my mother’s name too,” before proceeding to address the class and commence his lessons.
From that day forward, I made it a point to greet him whenever our paths crossed, marking the beginning of our connection.
Reflecting now, I ponder, “Was it truly a friendship? I was a teenage student in high school, and he was a man well-versed in the ways of the world. Moreover, there was an eleven-year age gap between us.
