Kailin was totally stoked for her husband’s return. He had been deployed with the Navy for about four months, and she couldn’t WAIT to show him the surprise she had in store!!
The 196-pound woman who had been struggling with food addiction had secretly started an eight-week P90X and Insanity program, and she was in the final stretch!
But that morning, she opened her email to a heart-wrenching message from her husband. He wanted a divorce. There was nothing she could do to change his mind, but she could change hers.
Kailin was totally devastated, but she knew that all she could do was choose to be strong and move forward.
The very morning she got the news, instead of sobbing on her couch with a tub of ice cream and a sleeve of Oreos, she did the exact opposite.
“I’m gonna kill my workout today and show you guys and myself how much strength I can have for me and that I want this for me, and nobody’s gonna bring me down because I’m not that strong today, but I’m gonna get there,” she said.
With her husband’s welcome home sign behind her, she kicked those “divorce tears” to the curb by crushing her P90X
“I’m here to say that if I can do this being a military wife with a husband deployed, and on top of that this morning finding out that he wants to divorce me, then anybody can get up and do their workout,” she said in an attempt to motivate others going through hardship.
“This is gonna be the workout that changes everything,” Kailin added.
And it was…
Four years later, she continued the video with an emotional outpouring of how far she’s come. She went from a size 18 to a size 2, but for her, that’s not what mattered. It was what changed her on the inside.
She started to love herself again, and that’s a priceless gift that no amount of weight loss can offer.
“I applaud you for loving your body no matter what it looks like and no matter what size you are, as long as you feel beautiful and feel confident, I could care less what size you are,” she said through tears. “I just want you to feel how I feel today.”
