The principle is always and everywhere the same: in Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to Muslim sensibilities. In non-Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to Muslim sensibilities.
“Paris: a teacher threatened for asking a student to remove her veil,” translated from “Paris : une enseignante menacée pour avoir demandé à une élève de retirer son voile,” Valeurs Actuelles, September 20, 2022 (thanks to Medforth):
The police arrested a 22-year-old man accused of insulting and threatening a teacher that he would come and violently attack her. And this, because she had asked his sister to remove her veil during a school outing. The arrest of the young man took place on Friday September 16, near the Simone-Weil high school – where the young girl is educated – located rue de Poitou in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, reports Actu17, Monday September 19. The suspect was referred to the prosecution at the end of his police custody, before finally being released under judicial supervision, pending his judgment.
In detail, Friday, September 16, students from the Simone-Weil high school spent the afternoon between the walls of the historic library of the city of Paris, which is located rue Pavée, near the school. Suddenly, one of the two teachers present on the spot discovered that a high school girl had put on her veil when leaving high school. “She asked her to remove it, telling her that wearing it is not authorized in the school’s rules of procedure, and in particular during school outings,” a source close to the investigation specifies to our colleagues.
However, this request annoyed the teenager, who refused to remove her veil, before calling her parents. On the phone, her brother asked to speak to the teacher. According to the information available to Actu17, he very quickly threatened the latter, notably making these comments: “I’m going to come and finish you off, you’ll see what’s going to happen to you, I’m coming.”.
The police were alerted and a police patrol went to the scene. Around 3:40 p.m., the suspect was identified in front of the high school, while “He was heading towards the library,” according to the same source with the media. Aged 22 and residing in the north of Paris, he was placed in police custody. To officials, he reacted thus: “If someone touches or asks my sister to remove her veil in the street, I will kill him.”
According to Actu17, the threatened teacher filed a complaint. Released on Sunday, September 18, the suspect will later be tried on counts of “contempt of a person charged with a public service mission” and “threats to such a person,” according to information collected from the Paris prosecutor’s office.
