Nigerians have taken to social media to call out the federal government after a video of children in a northern school being served food on a sheet of paper surfaced online.
In a Voice of America report on the government’s school feeding programme, the pupils were filmed eating food from a sheet of paper.
In April 2022, the Federal Government had revealed that it spends about N12 billion on the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programmes (NHGSFP) monthly under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (MHADMSD).
Dr Umar Bindir, National Coordinator, National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) disclosed this at a two-day stakeholders consultative workshop on the development of a national policy for NHGSFP in Abuja.
However, following the circulation of the video, Nigerians expressed outrage over the money spend and poor quality of food given to the kids.
@ElemSunny wrote; Have you seen this VOA Hausa video? Is it the school feeding program? Serving our children food on sheet of paper??? Unbelievable!.
Watch the clip:
@n6oflife6; I have NEVER SUPPORTED this Program. The amount of billions sunk into this Sham would have done a lot for our Economy. Empowering their parents to take care of them better. 😢
@Iamteetuz; And some people are still in support of this yeye party
@emmarnoel; Govt may have actually released adequate funds for this without proper supervision.
@PeterObi was able to prevent this by cutting off all the transit points and sending money’s directly from SUBEB to the schools and asked the principals and parents to manage it.
@HafeezMajek; @nassnigeria @HouseNGR Billions spent on school feeding Nigerian children ehi,.., would any of you prefer to be served food on a piece of paper?
@SegunOladejo_; Yet they’ve sent billions of Naira on school feeding program
@BolanleOdu; Any time Osibanjo say this thing, I get angry. This is one of the policies his numerous betrothed also claims he championed. Massive fraud just like the vote buying exercise that they claimed was trader moni.
