At that point in my life, I was barely getting by. I had a job, but it was the kind you get with just a high school certificate, so the pay wasn’t good.
Everything I earned went into rent, transport, food, and bills. Sometimes, it still wasn’t enough. I couldn’t turn to my family for help because they were also struggling. I was basically alone in it all.
I didn’t want to keep living from one paycheck to the next, so I made up my mind to go back to school and get a degree that could help me find a better job.
