The region has witnessed increasing attacks on security agencies and facilities, government institutions and high-profile individuals following the arrest of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
A suspected member of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) who identified himself as Victor Tochuchukwu Akama says the group is responsible for the killings, arson attacks and other criminal activities going on in Southeast Nigeria.
The region has witnessed increasing attacks on security agencies and facilities, government institutions and high-profile individuals following the arrest of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Although IPOB has denied culpability for the spate of attacks and killings in the geopolitical zone, security agencies have said the separatist group is responsible.
In a trending video, Victor who claimed to be a member of IPOB’s militant wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), said he was arrested for being a member of the group.
According to him, ESN members are the unknown gunmen terrorising the South East region.
“They brought me here because I’m ESN member. ESN means Unknown Gunmen. We are known for killing people. We do kill police, army and saboteurs,” he said.
He went on to say saboteurs are their brothers who do not support their cause.
