A Nigerian lady identified as Uzo Njoku has narrated how her man’s feeling of inadequacy caused a crack in their relationship that led to it eventually crashing.
The artist shared her story on Twitter as she recounted that their issues started with her buying a MacBook for him which he rejected.
He informed her that he he intended buying one for himself next year and he had been saving towards that. She wanted to return the device but he refused to let her do that.
Uzo said that he was cash strapped but ego would not let him ask her for help and he kept preventing her from buying anything else.
There was a time she paid for their trip to Cancun for the holidays even though he suggested a cheaper destination which was North Carolina.
She could no longer tolerate his behaviour so the relationship ended and she vowed never to spend on any man she dates unless he’s her husband.
In her words; ”I bought this man a MacBook and that was what sparked the downfall of our relationship.
Men are so competitive and prideful omg. Lesson learned to not gifts unless it’s my husbuy them expensive Happily single. Tired of hearing I’m too ambitious. He was visibly upset about the gift saying he was going to buy it next year after saving. I offered to return it, he said nah. Money was tight for him but he wouldn’t let me buy anything moving forward until we were equal in terms of spending. No dates. Just staring at the wall.
Then he began to police my spending. Telling me to return my Gucci glasses, I can buy Amazon glasses. I wanted to go to Cancun and he kept downing it saying no let’s vacation at North Carolina. I’m sorry wtf is there.
I paid for our trip to Cancun and hell broke loose There are plenty of great women out to say he fumbled. Economics does pay a huge factor in relationships and I hope he finds someone more up his speed. I’ve learned to not buy a man something he can’t afford.”
