Loved ones can be here one minute and gone the next. James 4:14 compares life to a vapor “that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.” It’s best to use what little time we have to tell those around us how much we love and appreciate them. That’s precisely what one man did with his final few seconds.
Two men – Benjamin Chafetz and Boruch Taub – were killed when their single-engine plane went down in a wooded area in a New York City suburb, according to People. The plane, which had taken off from New York’s JFK airport, was headed to Richmond Heights, Ohio.
However, soon after takeoff, things took a bad turn, according to CBS2 New York. Boruch – the pilot- reported that the aircraft was experiencing engine trouble. Boruch did reach out to an aircraft controller and informed him of their situation.
Man Sends One Final, Heartbreaking Goodbye
Prior to the crash, Benjamin sent a heartbreaking message, one final goodbye. Benjamin sent a message intended for his wife and 7 children through Whatsapp. His message read: “I love you and the kids,” according to The Jewish Chronicle.
Unfortunately, the plane crashed in the woods of Westchester County, New York, killing both Benjamin and Taub, CBS2 New York reports.
Rabbi Nissim Abrin described Benjamin as a happy, generous and welcoming person.
“He was a lively person, a happy person, a very outgoing and loving person, and he was somebody who was of generosity of spirit and generosity in all areas,” he said, according to the Cleveland Jewish News.
What a heartbreaking story!
It’s true that we can never be sure of just how much time we have left. However, this tragic story reminds us to always tell those around you just how much you care for and cherish them!
