Ever been in a fast-food drive-thru, waited in line and then picked up your order only to find it was wrong? Sure, we have all been there. People make mistakes. But what about instead of receiving your order, you got something else entirely, say a bag full of cash?
That exact scenario happened to one northern Indiana man. That man, Josiah Vargas, was hoping to grab breakfast one morning. That morning Josiah’s restaurant of choice was none other than the home of the golden arches: McDonald’s, according to CNBC
Josiah placed his order, a sausage McMuffin. However, in addition to receiving his breakfast sandwich of choice, Josiah was handed another bag, KIRO 7 reports. It was a bag with $5,000 in cash!
Josiah went to TikTok to announce his startling discovery. In the video, Josiah shows the bag and its monetary contents to the camera as he returns to McDonald’s.
Despite his finding, Josiah says that he understands he must return the money to the fast-food location.
“So now I have to return this ’cause I’m a good person,” Josiah says in the video.
Josiah, before he climbs out of the vehicle, claims he doesn’t understand why McDonald’s would have done this to him.
Honest Man Returns Bag of Cash to McDonald’s
“Why would you guys do this to me,” he says. “You know how bad I want this money?”
The video shows Josiah walking back into McDonald’s and handing the bag back to one of the workers.
A few seconds later and we see Josiah back in his vehicle, he explains how things went in McDonald’s.
“They were all just hugging me and thanking me and crying,” he said.
While Josiah was honest and decided not to add the $5,000 to his bank account, he did not walk away empty-handed. To show their gratitude, those grateful McDonald’s employees did give Josiah something.
“And I get free McDonald’s for a month, I guess,” he says in the video.
Also, Josiah did end up with some cash because of his honest deed.
“When I was driving away, they called me back in to give me $200. Do good people. Return $5,000, get $200 and free McDonald’s for a month. Good trade value.” Josiah said
