Philip Njemanze, a medical doctor and Chairman, Global Prolife Alliance, GPA, has revealed how he warned former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and Nigerian Senators on the dangers of the National Health Act.

Njemanze said in an interview with News Central, that the National Health Act permits organ poaching of Nigerians without their consent and also legalized the sale of their organs.

He said “Section 53 of the Act allows anybody’s organ to be taken with the authorization given by the doctor, not the donor, not the patient. The donor has no right over his or her own organ. They actually legalized it in section 53.

Njemanze, an academician of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), which is the UNESCO highest body for Space Research, said he had warned Senator Ike Ekweremadu at the entire public hearing at the senate that “he will be the first victim of the law he is standing for”.

“Nigerians will bear me witness. Senator Ifeanyi Okowa can also bear me witness. He was there. This was exactly what happened. It now looks like a prophecy that has come true. The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria sold the entire organs of the Nigerian people even when they knew the true situation” he said in the interview.

Njemanze, who has been relentless in his quest to get the National Assembly to amend the Act, in his lengthy submission to the Senate cited sections 13, 20, 43, 45, 48, 51, 53 and 58 of the Act as contentious sections which ought to be amended.

He said there are National security implications if the Act is not amended, revealing that over 10 million Nigerians may die form legalized organ poaching without consent within 10 years.
