A mom in Mississippi allegedly threw her infant daughter on a road, killing the child. Now, she faces the possibility of the death penalty.
This week, police in Pearl, Mississippi, announced that Makaylia Jolley, 20, was charged with capital murder in connection to the death of her 9-week-old daughter.
The child, Khalysie Lashay Jolley, died on May 14 in the hospital. Jolley was arrested on May 12 in connection to the alleged abuse, but the charges were upgraded with the child’s death, according to WAPT.
Jolley now faces the possibility of the death penalty.
When police arrived, they found Jolley holding the severely injured child, according to the AP.
Medics arrived and took the child to the hospital, where she later died. Officials said they had to chase Jolley into the nearby woods, where she was taken into custody, according to WAPT.
